Shid Latta - How It Is (Single review - Fresh Beats.com)

SHID LATTA - 'HOW IT IS' (Single Review)
Too often we find new Hardcore Rap falling into horrible pitfalls. Either the music itself isn’t engaging enough, or there is no flow to the rapping itself and it falls down there. Shid Latta’s latest single, ‘How It Is’, dodges these pitfalls and is an in-your-face powerhouse track.
Musically this is as gripping and engaging as you could hope a track to be, with brutally calculated beats and synth hooks that swirl their way straight into your head. Mix this with Shid’s straight-up self-assured lyricism and some sweet production, and you’ve got one amazing track that makes an impact every time you listen to it – not just the first time.
The best thing about this track is the ferocious intensity. From the lyrics to the delivery, Shid is on top form and the intensity doesn’t drop for a second. He lyrically grabs you and forces you to listen to the track from the moment he opens the track with “court dates and court case, on a high speed chase“. And not only is it intense, but it stays true its hardcore rap roots. And, in time of oversaturated radio-friendly pop-rap, it stands tall as a result.
Shid Latta is bringing hardcore rap back to its roots with this single, and could well go on to redefine it for a new generation. Either way, you’re definitely going to want to get a load of this single.

8/10
